So. We get a new coach now, right?

(via marseeah)

Just got back from the game. The students were booing the 1812 overture, which seemed not so classy. They also seemed to be barely cheering the second half (especially the seniors.) It came off kind of pissy to me.

I haaaate the coaching job debate, so mostly I’m just annoyed that we now have to hear about it.

In playing with my too many pictures of the orange tree, I took a few, flipped it and reversed it. (By the instructions of one Dame Missy Elliot.)
I kind of liked how these turned out. But then, we’ve already established that I like anything that is very bright.

The weather ‘round these parts lately has been…not great. Fall for summer, winter for fall (so far). With the exception of a few nice days, I feel like I’ve been having the same conversation with our receptionist every single day since June. She goes “How is it out there?” and then I go “ugh, not great” and she goes “Still cold and rainy, huh?” and then it’s my turn to say “I just wish the sun would come out.”(I hate being that person in the office who only small talks about the weather. But she always starts it!)
To say it’s been affecting my mood would be an understatement. So this weekend, when we got a little bit of sun poking through the permacloud, I grabbed my camera and went for a walk by the lake. For my sanity. And in the middle of the gray, gray midwest I found this tree. With berries so orange against the purple/blue sky they made everything a little bit better.
(I still could do with a bit of a vacation. Preferably to somewhere full of color. Does anyone want to go to India?)

“What these academic treatises ignore is the concern that Madison and others had that what they called the tyranny of the majority was legitimate. A majority, Madison predicted, often whipped up by demagogues, would oppress a helpless minority, a group so naturally small it could never hope to protect itself at the polls alone—using the government to deprive them of those aspects of life fundamental to a free society. No kidding.”

The local news is doing some sort of story on “predictions for the winter.” They keep flashing promos filled with images like this, and I swear I get physically sick to my stomach every time they come on.I can’t even think about it.
Why again do I still live in the midwest?
