Don’t overthink it.

I’ve been using the back half of an unfinished old sketchbook I dug up from freshman year. (And while I know I’m being less wasteful, more economical, etc, it does drive me a bit nuts that now this sketchbook won’t be “in order”)
Anyway, have an old sketch of my puppy! She was my baby/caretaker (we had a fundamental disagreement about who was in charge) from when I was 7 until I was 20.) This was in my “use every prismacolor in the box, the brighter the better” period.

I was feeling like I was in a bit of a creative rut yesterday, so I threw together another one of those wikipedia/flickr album covers everyone seemed to be doing earlier this year.
1. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random The first article title on the page is the name of your band.
2. www.quotationspage.com/random.php3 The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/ The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
(here’s the original photo)

In playing with my too many pictures of the orange tree, I took a few, flipped it and reversed it. (By the instructions of one Dame Missy Elliot.)
I kind of liked how these turned out. But then, we’ve already established that I like anything that is very bright.

The weather ‘round these parts lately has been…not great. Fall for summer, winter for fall (so far). With the exception of a few nice days, I feel like I’ve been having the same conversation with our receptionist every single day since June. She goes “How is it out there?” and then I go “ugh, not great” and she goes “Still cold and rainy, huh?” and then it’s my turn to say “I just wish the sun would come out.”(I hate being that person in the office who only small talks about the weather. But she always starts it!)
To say it’s been affecting my mood would be an understatement. So this weekend, when we got a little bit of sun poking through the permacloud, I grabbed my camera and went for a walk by the lake. For my sanity. And in the middle of the gray, gray midwest I found this tree. With berries so orange against the purple/blue sky they made everything a little bit better.
(I still could do with a bit of a vacation. Preferably to somewhere full of color. Does anyone want to go to India?)

I’d like to write something insightful about how it feels to be back, but really you can just read Meaghan who does it much better than I would or could. Whatever I feel or don’t feel about Notre Dame it is What Made Me Who I Am (at least in part) and that is important.

The second home game spent wandering campus and catching up with old friends instead of going to the game. As much as I love going to football games, it’s nice to take it a little slower.

The Grotto, this weekend.
Save money on a lens, get pentagonal bokeh. (I like it anyway)
